Frequently asked questions
Why does shipping cost more than expected?
Chairs are bulky items, so delivery is calculated mainly by volume, not just by weight. Even if a chair is lightweight, it takes up a lot of space inside a van, lorry, or courier network.
This means couriers charge based on how much room the items occupy, also known as volumetric shipping.
What is volumetric shipping?
Volumetric shipping means the delivery cost is based on the size of the parcel or pallet, not only how heavy it is.
For example, a chair may not be very heavy, but it is large and awkward to transport. Couriers must price the delivery based on the space it takes up in their vehicles.
Why is shipping for chairs different from normal parcel delivery?
Unlike small parcels, chairs cannot usually be packed into compact boxes. They are large, stackable, and often need to be moved on pallets or by specialist bulky-item couriers.
This makes the cost higher than standard parcel delivery, especially for larger orders or long-distance deliveries.
Do you make profit from delivery charges?
No. We do not use delivery charges as a way to make extra profit.
In many cases, the actual cost charged to us by the courier is higher than the delivery price shown to the customer. Where possible, we absorb part of the delivery cost ourselves to keep it more affordable.
Why don’t you offer free delivery?
We prefer to keep our product prices honest and competitive instead of hiding delivery costs inside the chair price.
Some companies include delivery costs in the product price and advertise “free delivery”. We believe this is not always fair, especially for customers who collect from us directly or place bulk orders.
By separating the delivery cost, customers can clearly see what they are paying for.
